Why have I not heard of FlashLogix?

FlashLogix has been tuning cars since 1995. For motorsport teams around the world and was not available to the retail public. From there we opened up our ECU tuning services and were contracted out by some of the more popular European tuner.

Will ECU tuning void my warranty?

No. A remap or any aftermarket work cannot and will not automatically invalidate a vehicles warranty. However, for your total peace of mind, all FlashLogix tuning work is insured and guaranteed, it's exactly why you should chose FlashLogix for all your tuning work. We say this with confidence because of the rigorous testing regime all ECU remapping and vehicle tuning files go through, and we even give a life-time software warranty too.

So why don't manufactures tune their vehicles?

The most common of all tuning questions, it is not complicated, but there are a few answers to this question, some more obvious than others. Vehicle manufactures are in a tough position here, they have to build one vehicle for all drivers, it's a bit like a nice suit off the shelf, it fits well, its looks smart, but it can't be custom tailored for the end customer, tuning is just the same, if you own a fleet of vans you may want a speed limiter or rev limiter added to help save your fuel, yet another customer may want a little more power to help with towing, or heavy payloads, these sort of changes can only be made once the vehicle is built and the customer needs something other than off the shelf Fuel quality, we are often asked to tune for different fuel quality, either higher or lower, once an owner knows where his vehicle will be used and what it will be used for, we can adapt the tuning for environmental, altitude and fuel quality. And surprisingly, many manufactures do offer ECU remapping services, any showroom these days will be full of eco tuned vehicles, often sporting a "blue" badge, just like our E-Blue tuning, with our tuning though, you don't need a new vehicle to benefit from economy tuning. In addition, many manufacturers offer power and performance tuning upgrades too, or offer the same engine in a range of vehicles offering different power levels, this enables customers a choice, taking account of tax banding, insurance, performance, price and economy, In most cases though the choice is controlled with software, just like our tuning, but with FlashLogix you don't have to decide what you want from new in the showroom, we can tailor your vehicle to your needs whenever you want.

How is the software tested?

All files are created and tested using a dyno at our German facility. This ensures that we can make correct measurements with DIN, ISO, EWG and other corrections. The dyno uses correct cooling fans (a $30 fan from your local hardware store is not going to simulate the same airflow when driving on the freeway). The variables in a non-controlled environment such as airflow, fuel, temperature, etc make a huge difference to the results.

Can a tuned car return to stock?

Of course it can and most FlashLogix dealers will offer this service for a small charge. But we'll be very surprised if that's what you want after taking control of your vehicle's performance. Should you lose your tuning files due to dealer actions or parts failure your dealer will be happy to re-install the map onto your car free of charge for as long as you own the vehicle.

Will my car use more fuel?

No, in fact quite the opposite, even on a performance tune, if you continue to drive the car in the same way as you did before the upgrade, your fuel consumption will probably improve. Of course if you have a track tune installed on the car and you are driving the car under the conditions with which a track map is intended you're likely to find a slightly reduced MPG. Economy tuning can have a dramatic effect on fuel consumption, with considerable improvements being achieved along with huge money savings on fuel. All FlashLogix fuel economy tuning has a money back promise, if you are not delighted - you don't pay for the tuning.

Will the life of my engine be reduced?

No, not at all if you use a FlashLogix dealer. Sadly some engines can be over-tuned, "stressing" the engine, transmission, cooling systems, brakes, etc, and reducing the lifespan and reliability of the car. This is why it's so important to choose the best - choose FlashLogix, the research and development we carry out ensures all our tuning is of the very highest standard possible. We take great care to ensure that all of our modifications have no detrimental effect on your car. In a lot of cases the economy tune actually helps to extend the life of components such as the clutch and gearbox by making the delivery of the power far less aggressive and smoothing the overall drive of the vehicle.

Will I notice a difference?

Yes, you will notice the difference right away but the car will continue to get faster and faster as it goes through an adaptation period that usually lasts up to 100 miles.

Will it affect my warranty?

Our software is completely undetectable. Most of our customers are actually factory supported dealerships.

Why doesn't FlashLogix need to tune my car on a dyno?

Manufactures don’t have an engineer sitting at the end of the production line with a laptop to program each car individually. All cars arrive from the manufacturer with identical programming on board. Once we know the limits of each make and model we can then program accordingly.

If a customer from California buys a car from New York does that mean that the car has to be programmed for 91 octane fuel as well as the California climate?

No, the car will automatically adapt to changes in fuel and climate.

My friend had his car tuned and he couldn't feel the difference. Why?

It really depends on which tuner worked on the car? Most tuners have a limited amount of knowledge when tuning cars. Obvious signs of amateur workmanship can be gleaned by asking how many car manufacturers a shop covers. If the shop is capable of tuning one type of car, logic follows that he should be able to tune any car. Software is software after all. Beware of those touting allegiance to one particular manufacturer.

What if the dealer updates the software in my ECU?

This can happen occasionally during routine service of any car. We can tune it back to our tuned settings for a nominal fee.

What if I wish to keep the speed limiter?

The speed limiter will be removed unless a customer specifically requests that it be left in place.

What about servicing the car?

The service schedule and procedures remain the same.

What if I have other modifications done to my car?

Other after-market modifications do not pose a problem for our software. We can create the file accordingly to facilitate seamless integration with any other performance enhancing modifications. If you decide to add an exhaust or intake, the car will adapt after 30-40 miles.
